Literature Text

I had a dream
Where you were yellow
Where I was green
Together we made the perfect team
We were better
Than I could dream

I had a dream
where you were red
And I was blue
An ephemeral
Where love was true
And I was allowed
To be in love with you

Black didn't mean pain
Even yellow meant youth
Blue was a calm
And red was the truth
But It was only a dream
A broken promise to sooth

I once woke up
To come to terms
That my face was blue
While my wrists dripped red
And before I could love
My heart fell dead

When reality hit
I turned to see
That a black hand
Had tainted me

Then there was you
with tears of blue
And a heart of gold
Innocent love
But a childhood sold

With nightmares of black
And demons made bold
A weakness imposed
Blue nights made cold

If colors could mix
They'd be shades or hues
Reds would be bright
With a contrast of blue

But I'm not the artist
Who paints this insanity
He who shades in your colors
And plays with humanity

Paint yourself black
To try to erase
The colors that taint
The tears from your face

But paint rubs off
And when you touch
Your hand print of blue
And fingers of red
Wont cease haunt you
And mess with your head

When I woke up
I wished to go back
To days of pink
With innocence intact
Then I looked in the mirror
Behind all the hues
I was black
And you were blue.

I think this is my favorite poem I've written out of the ones Ive posted so far.
Any criticism and thoughts on it are greatly welcomed.
Thank you.
